3 Things to Check to Ensure a Good Roofing Warranty

Have you thought about checking your roofing warranty lately? You should be aware of your warranties and their coverage and exclusions. This will help you save money and time in the long run. Here are three things to look into so you can make sure that your warranty will offer protection for you.

1. Be aware of the coverage and exclusions. Usually, your roofing warranty covers leak repairs caused by defective materials and poor workmanship. Since these are things that are out of your control, your manufacturer and roofing contractor are in charge of repairing or replacing the materials. However, there are limitations to warranties. Damage from extreme weather, acts of terrorism, ponding water and poor maintenance are part of the warranty exclusions. If the damage is because of these reasons, then you’re going to pay the full price for the repair or replacement. Your contractor should provide a copy of the warranties, coverage and exclusions. The best way to make sure that you’re getting a fair deal is knowing the warranty before signing with your contractor.

2. Learn about manufacturer requirements. A manufacturer has requirements for roofing contractors. There are manufacturers whose products can only be installed by a qualified roofer. Call the manufacturer. and check if the contractor you would like to choose is authorized or licensed. If they are not, find a different contractor who is authorized to install the products that you want. Here at Superior Roofing, we’re a GAF Certified Master Elite® Contractor so you do not need to worry about your warranty. We only offer the best services for our clients.

3. Reduce the chances of needing the warranty. Prevention is always better than cure. There are a lot of contractors who are certified and authorized, but there are still differences in the time they’ve spent in the field. Make sure to ask the contractors how long they have been licensed by the manufacturer. You can also check for ratings and recognitions that the contractor has received. These are all indications of quality workmanship.
